Participants and auditors of the 2025 MPIMC will enjoy a wider selection of accommodation options, each offering a unique experience to complement your stay in this enchanting Swiss setting. Whether you prefer the convenience of staying close to the venue or exploring nearby towns, there is something to suit every preference.

This year we are especially pleased to offer a limited number of special free accommodation opportunities for participants who demonstrate need, thanks to the generous support of a local sponsor.

Please note that the special MPIMC one-week rate at the Alphotel and Edelweiss Ski House is available exclusively to participants and week auditors. Regular hotel pricing applies for day auditors. Please also note that as rooms are limited and assigned on a first come basis, we encourage you to plan and secure your accommodations promptly.

Alp Hotel Biel-Kinzig

The Alphotel Biel-Kinzig opened its doors in December 2023, and is situated directly next to the Upper Gondola station with easy access. It will also conveniently be the location for the masterclasses. All rooms have a state of the art private bathroom, as well as a magnificent view of the valley below and the Scheerhorn and other mountains across. Breakfast is included in all prices. with other meals also available at the Restaurant either a la carte or by arrangement.

There are single and double room options, as well as a family room option and a three-bedroom apartment. For participants and auditors staying for the duration of the course, there is a special MPIMC 2025 Week price available:

  • Single CHF 875 includes private room/bath

  • Double CHF 490 per person, shared room and bathroom

  • For the three bedroom apartment, please inquire with MPIMC

All rooms include a delicious Swiss Breakfast Buffet. In addition, evening meals can also be arranged at the MPIMC set fee.

Edelweiss Ski House

For those who appreciate a more budget-friendly option with a touch of rustic charm, the Edelweiss Ski House is an excellent choice. It exudes an authentic Swiss alpine charm that allows participants to immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of the ski house.. The Edelweiss Hotel features shared rooms that can accommodate from 4 people, each in their own bunk bed, with two large shared bathrooms and showers, providing a communal and social atmosphere.

Cost for MPIMC 2025 participants:

  • CHF420 with up to 4 people in a room, shared bathroom, includes complimentary breakfast.

The dining room provides a traditional and cozy atmosphere, and evening meals can also be arranged at the MPIMC set fee in a communal setting. Marcel Ettlin is also an enthusiastic host and will be happy to organise expeditions and events on request.

Other Housing Options

For those looking for yet a different living experience, there is one AirBnB located close to the Edelweiss, and a short walk down the mountain to the Alphotel and the Masterclasses. It features 2 rooms (one with a double bed, one with a ski-style bedding for up to two people). If interested, please contact MPIMC for pricing and arrangements.

For those seeking additional options, accommodations can also be arranged at Airbnbs or hotels in the region of Altdorf or Bürglen, located at the base of the Alp. The masterclasses will be held at the Alphotel, which is conveniently accessible via the gondola. Efficient and frequent bus services connect the towns to the gondola station, ensuring seamless transportation.
