Pop-Up MPIMC

We are thrilled to announce that, for the first time, MPIMC will be held in Philadelphia this February. In collaboration with the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, Marina Piccinini will conduct a masterclass for selected flutists on the evening of February 3, 2024, at the American Philosophical Society.

The following day, on February 4, 2025, Marina Piccinini will present a concert alongside soprano Lucy Fitz Gibbon and harpist Anneleen Lenaerts at the same venue. This extraordinary collaboration will feature works by Debussy, including the impressionistic Syrinx and Six épigraphes antiques, as well as arrangements and songs in German and French.

We are delighted to offer this special class in anticipation of our summer course in Switzerland. To celebrate this Philadelphia class, we are proud to sponsor five full-tuition performer spots for interested flutists, who will also receive free tickets to the PCMS concert. Additionally, the accepted flutists will be automatically enrolled in our Summer Switzerland Course in June 2025.

Auditors will receive a promo code to receive discounted tickets to the February 4th concert. For concert details visit pcmsconcerts.org.

Location

The class will take place at the American Philosophical Society, located at 427 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This venue, one of the primary locations for the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, is rich in historic significance and architectural beauty. Attending the class at this remarkable venue offers an opportunity to experience its charm and historical significance firsthand. Designed in the elegant Italianate style, the building features a visually striking white marble façade and an impressive collection of paintings. The hall has a storied past, having once housed the Farmers' and Mechanics' Bank, which was a cornerstone of Philadelphia's financial history. During the latter part of the 19th century, it was the largest bank in the city and played a crucial role in the community's economic development.
